Challenge

A well-designed AV system

Awareness among university management teams across Poland is growing, and poorly planned investments in random audio-video solutions are becoming increasingly rare. We see this as a positive trend, as it allows us to demonstrate our expertise more often in the education sector, which until recently was dominated by low-quality and limited-functionality solutions.

The Lower Silesian University of Entrepreneurship and Technology in Polkowice treated the AV investment as a strategic priority. When commissioning the design phase, the university’s key expectations included:

  • functional solutions with intuitive operation,
  • standardised systems suitable for a diverse teaching staff,
  • network integration of the AV system and building automation,
  • high-quality equipment from leading manufacturers.

Solution

Comprehensive implementation

The well-designed concept resulted in a smooth and efficient implementation covering the following AV scope:

  • a central distribution hub featuring the core of the AV infrastructure, including a Crestron DigitalMedia matrix switcher, a Crestron Fusion server for AV asset management, and servers supporting streaming and e-learning systems,
  • the auditorium, equipped with a Televic Aladdin simultaneous interpretation system, high-resolution PTZ camera monitoring, and interactive content presentation capabilities,
  • the Senate chamber, equipped with a Televic Confidea conference system, high-resolution PTZ camera monitoring, and interactive content presentation capabilities,
  • lecture halls with the ability to display live content from the auditorium or senate chamber via fibre-optic connections to the building’s central distribution hub,
  • a student club equipped with a public address sound system,
  • a Digital Signage system consisting of large-format information screens installed throughout the facility, with the ability to display live streams from the auditorium or senate chamber,
  • an administrative workstation located in the facility’s monitoring room, providing control over the building’s blackout system,
  • seminar rooms equipped with essential AV solutions.

A modern university that stands
out from the crowd

Video distribution throughout the facility was based on the Crestron DigitalMedia platform. All rooms were equipped with integrated control systems, enabling users to manage AV equipment, lighting, and blinds via touch panels and keypads that replaced traditional wall switches. The standard room setup included both a visual presentation system and a sound reinforcement system.

The investment in a new building and modern infrastructure has delivered tangible benefits. Faculty members and students now enjoy comfortable, technology-enabled learning environments. The university’s reputation has also benefited, as reflected in national rankings, it was ranked second among non-public master’s degree institutions in Poland in the Learning Conditions category, out of 70 universities evaluated.

The region benefits as well. A modern university that keeps pace with current standards and distinguishes itself in an increasingly competitive market contributes positively to the area’s image and development. We are proud to have played a part in building a strong and recognisable brand for both the university and the region.
